Puberty Blues Spring

Spring is here! At least it is along Collins street where hot pink, aqua, purple and burnt orange were making a statement. Watching Puberty Blues kind of reminded me of these colours. Something about the promise of Summer or the washed out tones of photographs from the 60s, 70s and 80s makes me excited for lying on the beach and eating too much ice cream.

Olympic Style

If pressed I think most people would admit that they're quite partial to a bit of sparkle. Even the super chic Victoria Beckham deigned to ride atop a sparkling London cab in the blockbuster closing to the Olympics but what really caught my eye were the great costumes throughout. Of course Giles Deacons gowns for the spice girls were unparalleled. Beckham's black, what appeared to be stripped organza dress was particularly fetching as was Mel B's bedazzled body suit - a sign that the British designer is not adverse to a sequin or too. However, the costumes of the greater mass of performers were equally as jaunty and impressive. It was a showcase of British style from Deacon and McQueen to top shop and top man inspired ensembles. If anything the Olympics demonstrated that there is a distinctly British style today that can still turn heads.
